Block Paved Driveway Extension | Kexborough, Barnsley
We have recently worked on a project with one of our previous clients in Kexborough, Barnsley. Last year, we worked on their rear garden. This time around, they got back in touch with us to extend their driveway and add more parking space at the front of their property.
The existing driveway was very small. They had a small entrance and a front garden that was not being utilized to any great extent. They wanted to open everything up to create a modern driveway with ample space to park multiple cars.

Project Details
We started off by clearing the existing front garden area, including the existing surface and other unwanted items, to allow for the full width of the space.
Following this, we conducted a full excavation of the newly extended area to ensure that we had the depth required for a lasting installation.
A robust MOT Type 1 sub-base installation was conducted to provide a solid foundation for the newly extended driveway area. This involved compacting the MOT Type 1 sub-base across the whole driveway area, including the newly extended section.
The next step involved laying down a sharp sand bedding layer to provide a smooth finish.
The driveway installation consisted of modern grey block paving laid in a herringbone pattern. This is not only visually appealing but also provides maximum strength for vehicle use.
To complete the look and define the space, we installed a contrasting darker block paving to frame the driveway area. This darker block paving is neatly positioned around the driveway to provide a clean boundary between the driveway area and the rest of the space.
We also completed the installation by:
- Providing clean edging lines to the area
- Ensuring a smooth transition to the pavement and entrance area
- Completing the installation with kiln-dried sand

End Result
The transformation has completely changed the front of the property.
Where once this was a restricted and underutilized space, it is now a wide open driveway with considerably more parking space.
